For sale is a sturdy, nicely constructed Oak Finish Subwoofer Cabinet, with a Pioneer A30GU30-55D - 6 ohm - Dual Voice Coil 12" speaker installed (specs below).
Size / dimensions: 19.25 wide / 16 deep / 25.5 high. It can be placed anywhere in a room, for example, next to a chair providing a place for a lamp, books, and magazines.
I purchased this as an empty cabinet years ago at Speaker City USA in Burbank, CA. It is in good shape all things considered, and I'm sure it will polish up nicely. The grill could use a little soap and water and has some minor fraying due to age. The cabinet is VERY solid.
There are four terminal plates on the back to facilitate any number of configurations. Currently, only the bottom two are in use, each feeding one of the voice coils. One is marked "Left", the other "Right" for convenience as the speaker is a dual voice coil design. They would be more accurately marked “Voice Coil One” and “Voice Coil Two”, but to avoid confusion, I marked them Left and Right. This is NOT a “stereo” device!
This unit requires its own amplifier channel(s). You can use either input or both (one amplifier channel, or two amplifier channels). Two connections will double the output power. Don’t feed both inputs from a single amplifier channel as this will drop the impedance to three ohms, which the vast majority of amplifiers are NOT designed to handle!! The same goes for hooking it up in line (in series) with existing stereo speakers. You’ll again be dropping the impedance to lower levels than most amps can handle! The bottom line is use this subwoofer alone with its own amplifier channel(s) in conjunction with your stereo or home theater speakers.
Cotton batting is present internally as sound baffling material (see images).

The Pioneer speaker was recently serviced with a new foam surround, so it is in good shape. There is a tiny bit of glue around the surround which does NOT affect audio in any way and is normal when a speaker has been serviced. There is a spare “surround” included.
I'm going to miss this unit as it has been part of my system for decades!!
